'All businesses' should have business continuity plans
Every firm should have a minimum business continuity plan in place, according to the Institute of Risk Management.
Ian Fraser, marketing manager at the organisation, explains that such actions include identifying alternative accommodation and arranging communications and data access.
He adds that if such processes are not put in place then businesses are unlikely to survive a major incident.
Continuing, Mr Fraser suggests that firms are probably thinking more about the risks that they can potentially face, in many cases as a result of media attention.
Regarding a new study by BT Global Services which suggests that UK firms rely more on the strong actions and team spirit of their employees than having a continuity plan in place, he suggests that the traits are both important but that it sounds like "an excuse for inaction".
