Majority of companies think IT needs transformation
A majority of organisations worldwide, regardless of size, believe that IT operations are in need of improvement and are taking steps to "transform", a new survey has revealed.
Research by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) found that more than half of respondents have either recently completed an IT transformation programme or are in the process of doing so, while 30 per cent are considering one.
In contrast, only 18 per cent feel that things are fine as they are or that the disruption would outweigh the potential benefits.
Of the organisations undergoing a transformation programme, the majority are focusing on their relationships with their non-IT business units, with 57 per cent of respondents saying that improving IT's responsiveness to new business needs was their firm's top priority for this year.
"Many IT departments around the world are rethinking how they deliver services to the business and this underscores IT's critical importance to overall business strategy," said Debra D'Agostino, senior technology editor at the EIU.
The survey also found that companies undergoing transformation programmes expect better cost savings and smoother operations. ![]()
