Mobile working helped by cheaper technology, says 3 UK
Working on the move is not about being a "slave" to devices, it is about choice, and technology has helped the uptake of flexible working, 3 UK has said.
Renato Bottini, head of business at the mobile media company, explained that being reachable out of the office did not signal a 24-hour society, rather "it is all about people now choosing when and where they want to work and how they want to work and be more productive and flexible".
He added: "One of the previous barriers had been cost and that has been removed and it is now easy, cost effective and productive to work whilst mobile."
Mr Bottini went on to say that people get used to things in different ways and mobile technology has become part of workers' day-to-day lives.
According the Vodafone Critical Response Time Index for 2008, a year ago UK companies had a two-hour window to respond to enquiries or risk losing business - now one in seven UK firms demand a response in just 30 minutes.![]()
