Small business management software 'can weather storm'
Companies are looking for better ways to reduce expenditure in their workplace, with changing markets and the evolution of customer desires contributing to a different train of thought in business software, it is said.
Srikanth RP of Network Computing said that the market is becoming a lot more introspective after years of consistent growth, with companies now getting used to lower consumer demand.
This has caused many of them to cut costs by turning to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) such as resource management software and timesheet tracking.
Network Computing's expert continued: "The same IT function which was hard pressed to match the growing demands of business is now being asked to look inwards, and suggest ways to cut operational costs, without sacrificing the efficiency of the business."
Providing people are willing to bide their time to make their returns, the current economic climate would not take such a toll on companies adopting such solutions as it makes them more cost-effective, Srikanth added.
The importance of SaaS was marked out by its inclusion as a separate category in this year's BPM Partners Pulse Survey, with more people taking it on board during 2008.
