Firms urged to 'monitor' flexible workers
Businesses could make use of time tracking software following the introduction of flexible working, it has been suggested.
Speaking to Management Today, director of recruitment at Adecco Susan Yallop claimed that keeping tabs on productivity could benefit flexible working practices.
She said: "It's important that productivity is not adversely affected by the change in working practices.
"You know your own employees best; factor in their individual capabilities and strengths so you can identify who will need more or less supervision and support than usual."
Her comments follow reports that the government is considering a delay in the roll-out of the extension to flexible working for parents.
Speaking to HR Magazine, a spokesperson for the Department for Business and Regulatory Reform said that the government is "continuing to review the appropriateness of all new regulations due to come into force in the current economic climate".
"It is only right that in tough economic times we look afresh at the costs and benefits of new regulations," he added.
