Flexible working can 'empower workers'

Staff should be given the option to have flexible working if they are to feel more appreciated and free in the workplace, according to an employment specialist.

Phil Flaxton, the chief executive of Work Wise UK, said that many people in the office are treated like children and should give them more rights - something which could be effectively overseen with project management software.

He noted that in difficult economic times, many of the situations potentially causing problems for the employer could be easily solved through consultation and not through actual expenditure, with many solutions being effectively galvanised with timesheet software.

Mr Flaxton asserted: "Look at flexible working arrangements and empowering the staff to be assessed on output and not input. It will help both them and the people that they work for."

The call comes at a time where unemployment has passed the two million barrier, with many people looking for better working hours to allow for a more affordable standard of living.
