Resource wastefulness 'prevented with IT governance'
In order to aid businesses in cutting down costs, the use of IT governance in the workplace is paramount, a specialist has stated.
By breaking down goals and operations into five areas, companies across the world will be in a better position to deal with their strategies in the marketplace, states Ed Yourdon to ZDNet, who described the popular software failures many people can run into during their working day.
Through separating values into strategic alignment, value delivery, performance management, resource and project scheduling as well as risk management, he said that companies could avoid any competition between departments for the limited resources on offer, which could result in extreme mismanagement.
As a result, an organisation's wasteful use of resources is cut down and in turn it makes sure that any new system proposals such as timesheet and expense management can be properly aligned with a company's strategy, Mr Yourdon asserted.
His calls follow a warning issued by the Federation Against Software Theft, which states that anyone harbouring illegal or unlicensed software will be prosecuted.
