IDC: ERP spending to drop despite benefits
The International Data Corporation (IDC) has revealed that trends in the IT market will stop businesses investing in certain pieces of software despite the money such an investment will save them.
In its most recent research, the group stated that IT leaders across Europe are looking to cut costs through basic methods over the coming months.
Responding to questions posed by IDC, 23 per cent of businesses stated that cost-cutting measures are at the top of their agenda during 2009 in order to get through the recession.
Despite less people looking at the benefits of resource planning, the use of customer relationship management (CRM) will continue its growth over the coming months.
Bo Lykkegaard, the research director at IDC, stated: "Between a third and a quarter of respondents are entering survival mode in which reductions in IT costs and IT project cancellations are a way to survive the economic crisis."
IDC is a subsidiary of IDG, a company which posted revenues of $2.84 billion (£1.92 billion) in 2006 alone.
