Hosted software 'can benefit medical industry'

Software-as-a-service (SaaS) and other hosted technologies have been recommended for the pharmaceutical sector, according to a recent report into its uses in the industry.

Research and Markets announced the results of its investigation into such things as project management and resource planning to understand if it could improve the quality of life sciences, following its breakthrough into popular business use.

The company noted that many organisations in the trade are adopting an SaaS strategy in order to improve income and return in the current climate, adding that many hold the belief that online project management could be the one thing needed to improve their bottom line.

Despite this, Research and Markets recommended caution for businesses as SaaS is still an emerging technology, adding that companies may not understand how to implement it, putting the onus on providers to advertise the range of benefits that it can provide.

Research and Markets has dispensed unbiased advice and surveys to a number of major corporations across the globe, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Xerox and the World Bank.
