Short-time working 'a big bonus' for workers
Short-time working is a great initiative to use in the office, according to the Trades Union Congress (TUC), which recommends that people look at a better working arrangement in the recession.
General secretary of the TUC Brendan Barber said that with UK unemployment figures running riot, such a scheme would be ideal for flexible workplaces as it benefits all major facets of a business.
He said that using such a strategy, made clearer with timesheet software, could provide an effective and fast way to cut costs in a company and provide employees with vital financial aid.
Mr Barber continued: "Short-time working schemes are working well across Europe and are preventing many thousands of unnecessary job losses.
"The government must ensure that UK businesses and workers have access to such channels of support."
Earlier this month, the TUC also agreed with the extension of flexible working time in the workplace, highlighting the importance of more accessible hours for those with other commitments - something else which could be made easier through using online timesheets to manage shifts.
