Hosted software is 'much cheaper option'

Businesses ought to concern themselves with the budget of their IT departments as well as the increasing importance of the solution cloud computing can provide, according to a leading publication.

Software-as-a-service (SaaS) such as timesheet software and resource planning is becoming more financially sound as an investment due to falling costs of broadband and storage space, the Financial Times noted, meaning that off-site solutions can save a company a lot of money in the long-run.

The newspaper said it is now more necessary to keep applications away from the office as many employees are also becoming more mobile, with such technology prescribing to the ease of access which many workers will need while on the move.

In conclusion, the FT also asserted that IT decision-makers need to look at the lower costs and improved revenue which SaaS can provide over the course of the year, with no better time than the present to implement such a solution.

Such SaaS solutions as CRM need a company to understand the impact which they may have on current technologies in the workplace, Forrester Research's William Band said, adding that new systems must be adapted to allow workers to adapt to CRM quicker.
