Economic downturn 'drives trends in outsourcing'

The market for software-as-a-service (SaaS) has been shaped by the current financial downturn, creating an increased demand for such programs as resource scheduling, it is said.

ZDNet revealed this week that companies are adopting systems which have a low impact on initial costs, emphasising the need of businesses for them to be cheaper to put money into than current in-house strategies.

Despite this, many organisations want their resource scheduling software implemented within the quarter it is bought, as otherwise many managers may turn away from spending as the immediate effects of it are relatively unseen.

The most difficult criteria which ZDNet list is that relating to the demands of businesses, which want value from the product within the first-quarter of its use.

Despite a lot of worries elsewhere in the market, confidence in outsourcing still has not suffered a major setback, with most respondents to a recent survey from Vanson Bourne stating they had no regrets in their choice of going off-site for small business software.
