Standard software solution is 'way more expensive' than SaaS

Software services which are held in-house are really not cost effective when compared to the virtualised world of software-as-a-service (SaaS), a recent piece has emphasised.

According to Multichannel Merchant, SaaS programs such as resource management software are much cheaper than their server-based counterparts in the organisation's building.

It explained that software licensing is much more complex as it must be purchased for a range of things including the database systems themselves, with support costs including electricity, security and IT support staff meaning that in the recession, it is not a great way to invest money.

Furthermore, the number of software upgrades will require an organisation to add more capital to install the software, with the servers themselves being a big price to pay.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing recently emphasised how SaaS can allow a business to enhance their marketing skills, adding that a savvy approach to technology is more important now than ever.
