SaaS 'needs testing before buying'
A thorough analysis of a company's needs is desirable if they want to adopt business management software before joining up to a provider's offerings, a virtualisation expert asserted.
Trial versions should be consulted to see if they are compatible with a business' current systems, IT World Canada's Asma Rafi stated, noting that other software and operating systems may conflict with the technology they desire.
Ms Rafi noted that a number of managers are unsure of the solution they desire, whether it is project management software or timesheet technology, and as a result they need to adopt the lowest-costing initiative "in order to ascertain long-term feasibility" without spending too much.
The expert added that through this strategy, a company can take major steps and demand more from their provider should the first program work for them.
Demand for such technology is growing, according to global research firm EquaTerra, which registered a sharp rise in investment during 2008 in its most recent poll.
