Flexible working can be 'supported through technology'

There is a great amount of technology for businesses wanting to help their employees have access to flexible working, an expert has stated.

Business development manager at global enterprise communication company Aastra Mike Ballantine said that it is much easier to implement a sensible and cost-cutting solution for employees with the likes of time billing and timesheet software.

People working from home now have the ability to work remotely through their standard technological capabilities, particularly given the seemingly standard proliferation of broadband internet and the "choice of what sort of device you want to connect to it", he added.

Mr Ballantine continued: "It's not everyone [that needs to be able to work remotely].

"It could be your key workers, the key people that are going to keep your business functioning, that's what businesses need to be looking at."

Following swine flu announcements, Nokia, Samsung and Adidas have imposed temporary travel bans - a situation which could have been made much easier through small business software combined with flexible working, according to a recent Aastra survey.
