Emerging IT markets 'showing demand for outsourcing'

Software-as-a-service (SaaS) investment is an increasingly global phenomenon, with South Africa now adding its name to the list of countries showing interest in the technology.

Joint chief executive officer of the Integr8 Group Robert Sussman said businesses in his home nation are looking to project management software and other hosted services as a way of streamlining computer systems in the working environment.

He said that all-inclusive month-by-month costs for small business software are a huge selling point for many organisations wanting to lower IT expenditure, with hardware, software, licences, management and upgrades all being controlled by the provider and lessening the burden on the buyer.

"I believe the trend going forwards is for a gradual but most definite increase in demand for SaaS, with an ultimate environment consisting of a hybrid of both SaaS and on-premise hosted computing," Mr Sussman stated.

Reuters recently reported that hospitals in India are looking to invest more in SaaS.
