Outsourcing 'must be fully evaluated' before purchase

Despite the popularity of outsourced systems such as project management and time billing, one expert has recommended that people check their investment thoroughly before paying.

Director of Asia-Pacific services at IDC Chris Morris told ZDNet Asia that smaller businesses need to look at the compliance with existing systems which is offered by the software, as well as how it will maintain the buying business' direction.

"Some cloud services can be quite limited because they standardise around a limited area of functionality," he added.

"It always pays to check that what you buy meets your requirements."

Established and trustworthy companies are always recommended for companies looking to purchase small business management software as the market is becoming more popular, Mr Morris added, as many starting up now may not be around two years down the line.

Altaf Alimohamed, the managing director of Media Solutions, told Zawya.com this week that outsourcing is also able to get rid of the need for major expenditure on IT infrastructure.
