Management 'needed for outsourcing to work'

If a company is to use resource scheduling or project management software, it must employ a dedicated member of staff to make its implementation more successful, it is said.

Speaking to ZDNet Asia, Andy Cocks made his point while attending the Springboard Research conference, which aimed to highlight the range of positives which an investment in small business management software can provide.

Through the hiring of an "owner" who is solely attached to the project, a firm using software-as-a-service can make sure their programs are fully evaluated and implemented across all levels of a company in dire need of them.

As a result, the popularity of certain systems can be measured and savings can be monitored and enhanced through its adoption, with the technology naturally cutting down on upfront costs anyway, Mr Cocks added.

This week Gary Swart of oDesk emphasised the flexibility which business management software can provide, telling SearchCIO.com that subscriptions based on computer usage can allow for great savings.
