Cloud computing is 'safe investment'

It is understandable that many people are turning to cloud computing services such as resource scheduling, one expert has explained.

Speaking to Fresh Business Thinking, general manager of Gooroo Software Dean Miles said programs hosted via cloud computing are similar to familiar web-based services such as Amazon and Hotmail, making the use of hosted resource scheduling and project management much easier.

There is also an extensive range of software available through this method, ranging from extremely complex materials such as customer relationship management and stock handling to basic staples of computing, such as word processors and spreadsheets, he added.

Mr Miles also highlighted the seemingly non-existent upfront costs which make it a safer investment for many organisations, labelling them similar to electricity and water bills.

Senior web editor of TMCnet Patrick Barnard said this week that it may be foolish for many organisations to not consider the benefits of cloud computing.
