Online shopping shows need for business management software

The growth of online shopping is highlighting the importance of having the correct business management software in place, according to a new survey.

Verdict Research's study found that while e-retail spend is expected to grow by £2.4 billion this year alone, it will likely reach £31.2 billion by the end of 2013, amounting to a ten per cent stake in the overall retail sector.

Senior retail analyst at Verdict Malcolm Pinkerton explained the need for businesses to draw up an action plan for the coming months regarding the industry.

"The key for individual retailers is to formulate two clear strategies: one for succeeding through the recession and one targeting growth beyond this, as the online channel begins to approach maturity," he continued.

Many businesses are using customer relationship management as a way of enhancing their presence online, it was added, with Mr Pinkerton commenting on how it allows companies to respond to customer desires with more speed.

Verdict Research currently holds the position of being the leading market analyst for the retail sector.
