CRM 'could incorporate Twitter'

Twitter is a free and easy-to-use resource which many companies may want to consider incorporating into their existing customer relationship management (CRM) solution, it is believed.

However, businesses must accept from very early on that Twitter is nothing more than social networking and must be treated like it if the enhancement is to succeed, Rick Cook of Inside CRM explained.

He continued: "Tweeting for business is an art and it takes some study and practice to get it right. However, it can be an extremely powerful tool once you get it right."

Companies using Twitter with such business management software must ensure they are not playing up to the widely-accepted view of social networking and simply be as helpful and prompt as possible as this is all the consumer is looking for.

Twitter has become the fastest-growing social networking website on the internet in the last year, a trend which may not have been seen by its creators upon its production in March 2006.
