Companies 'must look at internal workings' before offshoring
Companies may be too busy concerned with offshoring their software facilities without realising that internal software may be to blame for money losses, a major technology expert has stated.
Software and data analyst Euan Davis explained to Computing at the Forrester IT Forum in Berlin that many IT support executives are turning to foreign providers for their software needs when it may actually be a lack of project management software which is causing internal inefficiencies.
A business may be inadvertently haemorrhaging its allocated IT budget if such internal processes are "weak".
"If businesses can't specify what they want or craft service level agreements effectively, they will lose the savings they were intending to achieve in the first place," Mr Davis continued.
The North East Chamber of Commerce has ensured the efficient running of its consumer-facing aspects through the installation of customer relationship management, a software solution which is able to tailor interaction with clients to their own specifications.
