Timesheets outsourced by Ford
In order to control costs on a large scale, a leading automaker is turning to online timesheet technology, it has been reported.
Computing recently revealed that Ford, the world's fourth-largest car manufacturer after Toyota, General Motors and Volkswagen, is adopting software-as-a-service to control its payroll and manage its time and attendance system in order to allow resources in-house to be used more effectively.
Ford aims to free payroll staff from unnecessary administrative tasks while allowing for more valuable activities, adding that it hopes it will cut down on costs via the increasingly popular target of full automation.
The need to oversee and invest in software licensing in these departments is also removed due to the new host company's management of such matters.
Ford's announcement comes shortly after news that General Motors has gone bankrupt, with the American city of Detroit being particularly hard-hit during the recession due to its huge car-making industry taking a turn for the worse and aiming to cut superfluous costs.
