Business management software 'changes vendor-customer bond'
There are a number of lingering myths surrounding software-as-a-service (SaaS) such as resource scheduling software, though the best factors are often unobserved, it is said.
Such is the opinion of Jeffrey Kaplan, an expert in outsourcing who told Datamation that many good attributes of SaaS - such as the ability to simply purchase and deploy the product - are the only ones ever really seen at face value when investing.
He continued: "The real significance of the SaaS movement is that it fundamentally changes the vendor-customer relationship.
"SaaS shifts the responsibility of successfully deploying and maintaining software applications from the customer to the vendor."
He added that software needs to be useful to be successful, in turn leading to providers of small business management software making sure their options are bug-free and thus improving the industry.
This month, managing director of Ardent Solutions Andrew Watkinson told Computing that a lack of investment in SaaS will likely prolong the downturn for companies across the country.
