SaaS 'no longer worrying' investors from security perspective

A recent study has found that while open source software may be a security worry for many companies, business management software continues to be seen as a safe investment.

According to the survey carried out by Forrester Research, 58 per cent of large companies interviewed were found to have major security concerns with free options, with around two-thirds of small businesses registering the same worries.

Furthermore, 57 per cent of these minor organisations also believed that open source software may be difficult to adopt, with the availability of service and support being another query which holds many back from using the systems.

However, business management software is now more desirable to small companies than ever, with only 27 per cent of such firms who do not register interest with the product citing security as an issue deterring them, compared to 57 per cent two years ago.

Forrester Research specialises in providing research for companies in IT, marketing and technology, putting it in a similar role to Gartner.
