Business management software could 'avoid millions of wasted hours'
The recent London Underground strike has highlighted the need for companies to invest in virtualised or hosted business management software, according to a new survey.
In the study carried out by Citrix Online, it was found that 5.4 million hours of working time were wasted in just 48 hours due to the strike by tube workers, with this issue perhaps being avoided by the access to project management software or similar from a person's home, allowing them to stay at home.
Bernardo de Albergaria, the vice-president and general manager of Citrix Online, said the internet is allowing businesses to stay connected to the world yet for some reason, many forget about their own workers.
He continued: "The survey clearly demonstrates that workers could be as or more productive working from home but unfortunately many businesses are not being as quick to recognise the benefits of adopting a flexible working approach in their business continuity plans."
The 48-hour London Underground strike arose from a disagreement over pay and job security between the Rail, Maritime and Transport union and Transport for London.
