Businesses urged to exploit investment in time tracking software

Firms must ensure they make the most of their investments in IT services, such as time tracking software, through providing adequate training, one expert advises.

It is fairly common that businesses do not fully exploit their IT spending by failing to fully train staff or maintain the systems, states Michael Dean, head of marketing at the National Computer Centre.

"The technology itself is only one part of the equation - you need the appropriately trained people to get real benefit from any investment and, in a recession, training is one of the first budgets to be cut, likewise maintenance costs," he commented.

Firms should look to reduce costs by effective purchasing of things such as time billing software and remember that maintenance is key, Mr Dean continued, warning that the chances of IT systems failing increases if upkeep is reduced.

Gartner recently advised firm's IT managers to complete their plans for business growth during the recession by July 1st, pointing out that they must be prepared for the end of the difficult economic times.
