SaaS 'helps SMEs compete' in modern market

The use of software-as-a-service (SaaS) by small and medium-sized enterprises in the modern market will allow them to compete against much bigger organisations, it is said.

Mark Seemann, the product strategy and development director at Genesis Communications, said the technology model - which delivers small business management software tools to organisations across the world - is able to give some brilliant benefits which would usually cost so much more.

He continued: "Part of this system involves providing highly sophisticated security with advanced intrusion detection. These systems are expensive and are out of reach of companies putting in solutions directly at their premises."

On top of this, Mr Seemann noted that alongside such advanced security, scalability is freely available which can help a business ensure that such an investment is affordable.

According to the recent Ardent Solutions SME Business Technology Report 2009, 23 per cent of SMEs admitted that IT budget limitations run the risk of having a bad impact on the business through loss of competitive advantage.
