Lack of cloud acceptance 'stems from lack of knowledge'

Many people are letting the hype surrounding cloud computing get ahead of them and this is giving rise to blatant hyperbole, it has been stated.

Steve Taylor and Jim Metzler made their comments to NetworkWorld, explaining that the excitement which is currently associated with cloud computing programs such as online resource scheduling has not been seen since the introduction of the ATM machine.

They explained that the over-dramatisation of the benefits of the industry has led to at least one analyst firm stating that it could be worth $100 billion (£61.2 billion) by the end of 2012.

However, what Mr Taylor and Mr Metzler have found is that one IT company could be seeing the benefit of investing in business management software, with a large number of other companies following suit because they see it as the right thing to do.

Earlier in the month, a major organisation hooked up with project management software when Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital adopted SaaS as a means of improving its service to patients.
