Business management software 'reduces IT burden and lowers costs'

Using software-as-a-service (SaaS) can help firms reduce their IT burden and lower costs, it is reported.

Such business management software solutions encompass CRM, ERP and business intelligence and can be accessed through a web browser and secure internet link, Computer Weekly points out.

Unified communications is one of the most recent applications to enter the SaaS market, the news provider adds, and new markets for SaaS such as recruitment are now emerging.

"One trend that is rapidly emerging is for SaaS service providers to offer whole suites of applications, from the back to the front end, arguing that businesses prefer to go to a single vendor for their IT," it continues.

Last week, ZDNet.com blogger Brian Sommer urged firms looking to SaaS for their business management software to make their choice of provider carefully, pointing out that they must be aware of the company's true abilities and not just what they claim to be able to do.
