Entrepreneurs 'must improve time tracking'

Time tracking is something all entrepreneurs must ensure they can do effectively in order to make the most of their working days, says one business expert.

Richard Strug, vice chair and executive vice-president of the Princeton chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives, points out that time tracking is a simple process, with one of the most effective tools being the humble to do list.

Having tasks written down and prioritised can aid focus and give a sense of accomplishment, he states, suggesting that entrepreneurs look to web-based applications to help them manage day-to-day jobs.

As well as this physical form of time tracking, Mr Strug urges business owners to delegate more work and analyse how time is spent at the business.

By recording who is doing what throughout the day, the real use of time can be compared to goals and expectations.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has also urged Brits to enhance their skills during the recession, saying that good knowledge of project management software can prepare them for the recovery.
