Virtualised software can 'cross boundaries to personal applications'
While a large demographic of cloud computing is reserved for applications such as resource scheduling and project management software, many personal users are now turning to the technology, it is upheld.
Cloud storage devices are also being used for holiday photos, music and other forms of media, said David Pratt, the chief operating officer of ThinkGrid.
This, in effect, gives the technology a major endorsement as it is showing that people are no longer intimidated enough by cloud computing to withhold their own personal items from it.
Mr Pratt explained: "Whether it's personal or it's business, its increasingly about the sharing of that knowledge and that data and making sure that you can do that in a nice and easy and seamless way."
According to an IDC report regarding the growth of cloud computing this year, the sector's expansion to the cloud will accelerate due to the economy's driving of users to lower costs.
