Cloud servers and smartphones 'perfect pairing' for business freedom

Smartphones are a galvanising force which will persuade a number of companies to consider the use of cloud computing, it is said.

David Pratt, the chief operating officer at ThinkGrid, believes that in the modern work environment, there is always a place for business management software, particularly if businesses are able to use newer means of accessing the internet.

He explained that people have always been traditionally tied to their laptops or desktop PCs, though when files are the only issue pairing this function up with smartphones is the next logical step for a truly flexible workforce.

Mr Pratt added: "It really opens up the collaboration side of things and enables you access and [to] share your data and information without having to be tied to applications or your PC."

Prior to the financial crisis, IDC's forecast for the cloud computing market predicted growth of 31 per cent during 2009 - over four times the growth of the whole software market.
