Cloud negotiation 'set to play bigger outsourcing role'

The relationship between cloud service providers and customers is becoming increasingly important, according to Gartner.

Complexities surrounding the provision of cloud services such as time tracking and time billing software need "relationship management", research director at Gartner Frank Kenny suggested.

He said: "The future of cloud computing will be permeated with the notion of brokers negotiating relationships between providers of cloud services and the service customers.

"Enhancement will include managing access to these services, providing greater security or even creating completely new services."

A recent survey by Gartner suggested that there is room for improvement with the delivery of software-as-a-service, after firms reported issues with the quality of integration and technical specifications with some of the offerings.

However, more than half of those surveyed are satisfied enough to maintain spending, while 32 per cent intend to expand their outsourcing spending.
