Outsourcing ROI 'recognised by businesses'

Outsourced IT services such as timesheet software and online timesheet programmes offer businesses long-term return on investment (ROI), it has been suggested.

Piers Linney, executive director of IT solutions provider Outsourcery, explained that the firm's customers are "embracing" these products because it offers long-term advantages.

Mr Linney said: "The return on investment [ROI] over a period of time - one, two or three years - is far better hosted.

"You can save money today, or, you can make your business more effective and efficient and that means you're going to make more money."

Microsoft recently commissioned research into IT spending, which revealed that 55 per cent of industry professionals believe that the economy has changed the role of IT for businesses.

The survey, carried out by market research firm Harris, also revealed that 51 per cent of IT professionals believe budget constraints are the biggest barrier to innovation.
