Internet connection 'needs to be top notch'

A company is at risk of losing a lot of money if its internet connection is temperamental, particularly if it uses small business management software, it has been stated.

Fresh Business Thinking detailed the "time is money" theory, highlighting how many home workers are now deciding to embrace systems run by businesses such as resource planning, though this productivity can be seriously dented if the internet connection is not there to support it.

It was argued that home networking will largely lose its appeal and businesses may struggle to get workers to do the hours they desire if internet connectivity is not fully remedied.

The advice follows research which discovered that two-thirds of firms in the FTSE 100 are offering flexible working options to their workers.

ntl:Telewest Business found that 69 per cent of respondents were accommodating parents, carers and other people with the need to be elsewhere when they are working, following April's extension of working rights by the government.
