CRM market grows, says Gartner

The desire of companies to keep abreast of the latest developments, trends and desires of the consumer market has been reflected in a new survey released by a global research firm.

Gartner revealed that the need for customer relationship management (CRM) jumped by 12.5 per cent during the course of 2008, highlighting the increased need for businesses to retain customers while also targeting new consumers.

Expenditures topped $9.15 billion (£5.56 billion) for the form of business management software during last year, with web-based solutions such as those provided through software-as-a-service (SaaS) accounting for around 20 per cent of the market share, a rise of five per cent.

Gartner believes this trend is due to a number of reasons, though noted the increased use of social networking and online forums as mediums to connect to potential customers as a driving force.

In other SaaS news recently, Atlantic Global announced the release of its newest version of flagship software, OnDemand, an all-in-one solution for businesses wanting to remain competitive, including options for CRM.
