Firms 'still not getting best out of CRM'

Despite a lot of money being invested into customer relationship management (CRM), companies are still not getting what they can out of it, a recent survey has highlighted.

The study, which was carried out by the National Computing Centre (NCC), found that 45 per cent of companies have seen an improvement in their service and income.

However, five per cent have seen no benefit at all and the remaining half believe their implementation has not been a complete success, Computing revealed.

However, the NCC emphasised that such an investment remained key in the current economic climate, with such business management software assisting many targets that a number of firms will have in the current climate.

Steve Fox, the NCC's Evaluation Centre managing director, told the news resource: "It's reassuring to see that organisations are maintaining their investment in CRM software to better understand their customers and improve their service levels."

This month, Gartner revealed that investment in CRM rose by 12.5 per cent on 2008's figures.
