SaaS 'getting understandably more popular'
Outsourced business management software such as resource scheduling continues to gather steam, an expert believes.
Peter Flynn, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) "evangelist" speaking to the White Wall Web blog, explained that adoption of SaaS is rightfully growing globally as per recent statistics presented by Gartner, highlighting the popularity of the increasingly trusted approach.
Mr Flynn explained: "Ultimately, in the future all software will be web-based and accessed through various devices by users, an approach which, compared to investing in on-premises solution, minimises costs, reduces time to delivery, alleviates upfront cash-outlay and allows for OPEX verses CAPEX budget allocations."
He added that SaaS is also able to provide a reduced number of maintenance issues and an increase in the frequency of which updates are applied, taking any major upgrades out of the hands of the buyer.
On Monday, eco-conscious bosses were told in a recent survey by Greenspace that an investment in SaaS could seriously reduce the worldwide creation of carbon dioxide.
