Outsourcing of technology 'continues to have range of benefits'

In an effort to streamline business, companies are being urged to adopt IT outsourcing measures, which may include the adoption of time billing and resource scheduling.

Speaking to the Press and Journal, Gary Johnstone, a senior manager at Aberdeen-based chartered accountant Anderson Anderson & Brown, said that shifting elements of a business out of the building to a dedicated team of experts or a competent IT model could bring a number of benefits.

Such bonuses include the access to "proactive, accurate and timely financial information maintained by a dedicated resource", while quality and value for money are maintained.

Additionally, Mr Johnstone said that a reduced investment in IT and software can bring about a greater in-house focus on the task at hand, again supporting the need for businesses to invest in the likes of project management software.

Business Link, the government's main source of advice to individuals aiming to get the most out of their workplace, continues to support outsourcing as an option as it allows a business to focus on what is most important to it.
