Unemployed IT workers 'must teach themselves ways of SaaS'
Many people working in IT may find themselves with more time on their hands due to redundancy or less hours, so they should use this time wisely, it has been explained.
Siobhan Chapman, the deputy editor at ComputerworldUK.com, explained that training is a very necessary facet of the job which should be taken up if spare time can be afforded, particularly with the fast-paced implementation of software-as-a-service (SaaS), something many people still may not grasp.
She explained that systems such as resource scheduling software and customer relationship management are things which businesses will increasingly rely on after the recession lifts, making them more important in every manager's mind.
As a result, Ms Chapman asserted that such knowledge will land a person with much-needed business acumen once the job market starts to improve.
According to a recent survey by the IT Job Board, 34.3 per cent of respondents said they planned to recruit in the third and fourth quarters of 2009.
