IT is 'primary focus' of small businesses

There have been a number of significant changes when it comes to the priorities which small and medium-sized businesses have when investing in IT interests, according to a new survey.

Carried out by AMI-Partners, it was found that nearly 60 per cent of respondents are now interested in hosted services such as resource scheduling software and project management software, marking a 100 per cent increase on the previous year.

Furthermore, nearly 40 per cent of small and medium-sized businesses are interested in software-as-a-service (SaaS).

Chad Thompson, AMI's vice-president of marketing, said: "What we are seeing in the SMB space right now is anything but 'business as usual'."

He continued: "SMBs are re-evaluating the way their businesses run on a number of fronts, including where and how they spend money, how they drive revenues and how IT supports these goals."

AMI trades in 15 countries using 20 languages and assists Fortune 100 companies in making facts-based decisions through impartial research.
