SaaS is 'solid investment'

Businesses wanting to manage costs more effectively will get their wish granted if they decide to use a subscription such as the software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings on the market, it is believed.

Paul Mah, a technology expert for IT Business Edge, explained that while many people are unable to see beyond the "hyperbole and marketing fluff" which surrounds the real-world advantages of implementing SaaS, there are some genuine bonuses which such systems can provide.

He continued: "One of the basic promises of SaaS is in its ability for businesses to avoid investing in costly hardware.

"The value of this benefit might not be intuitive to IT at first, but becomes apparent when viewed from the perspective of the chief executive officer or chief information officer."

If SaaS such as time billing software is used successfully, it must be advertised as such otherwise businesses may not get as much commitment to the project from their staff, according to recent comments from Robert Poe of Focus.com.
