'Community czar' could help SaaS implementation

Businesses wanting to get the most out of their resource scheduling or project management software may want to appoint a "community czar" to ensure efficiency, one business expert has said.

Amar Singh, the president and chief executive officer of Amitive and a former boss with Procter & Gamble and Logictools, told eWeek that such a role can identify the team-building initiative which such hosted services can provide a company, using this knowledge to push new ideas forward.

He explained: "Partner satisfaction responsibilities may include: determining how they are using the system, specific needs or challenges, suggestions for new capabilities, and tracking and communicating community key performance indicators."

However, Mr Singh highlighted the need for businesses to prioritise which business users will be most critical to the project's success, adding that these people must understand their role in this goal.

A recent survey carried out by the Chartered Institute of Marketing found that software-as-a-service (SaaS) is a popular investment for many businesses in the recession, with customer relationship management topping the list.
