SaaS should 'make companies take note'

The need to adopt software-as-a-service (SaaS) in the workplace is becoming paramount to many organisations, according to one writer.

In a piece for FierceBiotechIT, Dirk Beth - an expert in the field of hosted services such as resource planning software - noted that it is integral to the core of many businesses that management tools are adopted, and for many reasons.

He explained: "First is to ensure responsible fiscal operation of the business. Investors want to see business-savvy decisions that both preserve cash and ensure continuous and efficient operations."

Mr Beth added that the use of a vendor will also eliminate the need for any additional controls having to be put in place for upgrades, fixes and other facets usually associated with in-house systems.

The aficionado's comments follow those of Chad Thompson of AMI-Partners, who said that a lot of small businesses in IT are targeting hosted services as a means of cutting down on costs and competing with the market on a whole.
