SaaS helps a company 'thrive, not survive'
If a business wants to thrive during the current economic climate and not just survive, the best way to do it is through the adoption of software-as-a-service (SaaS) such as project management software, it has been said.
According to Archie Black of Black SPS Commerce, speaking exclusively to ZDNet, the SaaS model delivers a lot more functionality for a lot less money.
He noted that lower licensing and maintenance costs and the reduced cost of ownership is one of the most appealing aspects of SaaS, while reduced in-house IT overheads and increased focus on strategic IT projects.
Smaller upfront costs are also achievable with pay-per-month software, as SaaS can make it more affordable for firms with smaller overheads to get hold of new applications to help with "recession-proofing plans".
He concluded that it will also deliver "continuous quality of service, even when business activity and the demand placed on technology solutions are often increasing".
Marketing director at Star Martino Corbelli told SME Web this week that good support is needed from an outsourcing partner, such as a dedicated team of highly-trained support desk personnel are available.
