SaaS projections 'show need for investment'

A new report has highlighted just how big a part hosted IT services will play in the future of IT.

Today, Research and Markets announced the results of An Endless Cycle of Innovation: SaaS Scenarios Through 2014, finding that software-as-a-service (SaaS) such as time billing software is changing the fundamentals of business.

This is due to a number of modern-day factors, according to founder and CEO of Research and Markets Bill McNee, one of the study's lead authors.

He continued: "The research shows us a combination of changing SaaS acquisition and adoption, both as a result of the global recession, and as a result of the changing nature of SaaS itself."

"Failure to recognise and adapt to these changes will make it extremely difficult, and much more costly than it should be, for anyone to benefit from SaaS."

Many businesses are also turning to such initiatives due to their ability to reduce an organisation's emissions, according to itbusiness.ca, while also allowing an organisation to make major financial savings.
