Managed software 'grows in popularity by 100%'
Around forty per cent of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are considering using software-as-a-service in the coming months as a means of tidying up their IT portfolio and saving money, according to a new report.
destinationCRM revealed that AMI-Partners' study of 11 different countries found that 60 per cent of SMBs across the world are interested in managed services - a marked increase of around 100 per cent from three months ago.
Chad Thompson, a vice-president with AMI's market strategy group, explained that chief information officers are beginning to get a little savvier with their approach to work.
Commenting on new and developing technologies such as time billing and project management software, he said: "Ever since the downturn started, we have seen SMBs become much more willing and much more committed to investigating and exploring new IT solutions."
The trend is perhaps due to the money that can be saved when adopting such a technological stance, following comments from Hubert Wentzel, the divisional director at EOH Consulting, who told IT Web that organisations in the current climate are looking to save plenty of money through off-site programs.
