Expert: Forrester Research highlights importance of SaaS

Forrester Research's understanding of recent trends in IT expenditure and its continued drop in the face of recession has been responded to, with an expert highlighting how software-as-a-service (SaaS) fits into it all.

Paul Mah explained that while he hopes small and medium-sized businesses are not "falling on hard times", IT-related operating expenses are something which can always be addressed and pruned to ensure that no excess is wasted on unnecessary things.

He added that such things as project management and resource scheduling software may want to consider leveraging SaaS to "better define" their IT provision costs.

Mr Mah continued: "While I will be the first to admit that SaaS is hardly a remedy to poor budgeting, SaaS when properly used will allow for greater cost granularity relating to actual usage."
