Survey: Flexible working still number one priority for mums

The importance of online timesheets and time billing software has again been accentuated by another survey released today.

According to the annual poll by WorkingMums, the UK's biggest job site for mothers in employment, flexible working is the top priority, with over three quarters - or 79 per cent - of the 1,677 women surveyed demanding the option.

In terms of defining a family-friendly employer, respondents said the offer of flexible hours for full time jobs was best, ahead of homeworking for full time jobs; part-time work and flexibility around school holidays was third, with support for childcare fourth.

Carole Willsher, recruitment and diversity specialist at British Gas, said of the results: "This is something we have made great strides to reflect in our own award-winning family-friendly working practices.

"British Gas offers flexible working to all employees at all levels and 60 per cent work flexibly, over half of these being men."
